The 16th Century Migration
ఆలయ చరిత్ర - ఆవుతు వంశీయుల సంబంధం
According to traditional historical records and ancient family brochures passed down through generations, the origins of this sacred temple are deeply intertwined with the journey of the Avuthu family clan (ఆవుతు వంశీయులు). In the 16th Century AD (కీ॥శ॥ 16వ శతాబ్దం), during a period of severe social and political hardships under the Muslim rule in the Maharashtra region, the ancestors of the Avuthu family decided to migrate from a place called 'Akari' (ఆకరి) in Maharashtra in search of peace and religious freedom.
Led by their elders, the clan traveled southward and eventually discovered the fertile, serene lands of Tumuluru village in Kollipara Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. Choosing this peaceful place as their initial settlement, the family members began establishing their roots. Over the centuries, while many descendants remained in Tumuluru, other branches of the Avuthu family migrated further to various parts of Andhra Pradesh, neighbouring states, and across the globe.
Divine Manifestation & Patronage
Upon arriving in the scenic lands of Tumuluru, the Avuthu ancestors discovered the divine presence of Goddess Renuka Devi Ammavaru, who had already self-manifested (Swayambhu) or established Her spiritual sanctuary in this holy region. Recognizing the immense, pure energy emanating from the deity, the Avuthu family embraced Goddess Renuka Devi as their beloved Kula Devata (Family and Clan Patron Deity).
With deep, unwavering devotion, the family began performing regular Vedic rituals and maintaining the temple. Driven by the divine grace and protective gaze of the Mother, the Avuthu clan experienced phenomenal prosperity. Over generations, members of the family blossomed, achieving spectacular success across various fields including education, business, politics, and agriculture
Preserving Ancient Traditions
Regardless of where they migrated or where they currently reside globally, it remains a sacred and mandatory custom for all descendants of the Avuthu family to return to the holy soil of Tumuluru.
